Good question! The truth is that this beautiful home is a remodeling project, but very little of the previous home still exists. A completely new floor plan, new roof line, all new windows, and siding were part of this addition, designed to take advantage of the view to a beautiful wooded landscape and lake.
The interior concept was to build new spaces with the features of an older rustic home. We used old, salvaged barn stone, wood floors, and wood beams juxtaposed against bright new interior woodwork to create this eclectically inspired home. Cabinetry and woodwork details were designed and manufactured at the MBA Design woodwork shop in Peninsula, Ohio.

Interior Remodel - Modern Contemporary Style
"Bright, playful, and sophisticated."
A fresh take on an ultra modern kitchen. Designed, fabricated, custom finished, and installed by MBA Design. Inspired by the homeowner's interest in modern art, the kitchen features curved drawers and race-car yellow cabinets, stainless steel countertops, and colorful accents. The eccentricity continued into the bathrooms with a selection of unusual vanity shapes and vibrant colors.

"Form & Function"
Unique shapes and finishes are integrated in this kitchen and entertainment area by MBA Design. High-gloss red kitchen cabinetry combined with select fiddleback maple veneers highlight the modern design. Granite and stainless steel counter tops complete the look. Appliance and multiple sink locations add convenience and function for multiple chefs and large family gatherings. Exotic wood veneers accent the sweeping curved bar and theater room. For continuity, the living room fireplace features the same wood veneers along with a flying stainless steel wing accent.

"For the Ages"
This home is a tribute to the ornate architectural detail of days gone by. MBA Design was tasked with interior woodwork design for this home from Peninsula Architects. Custom carvings, paneling, molded plaster ceilings, and trim details were specially conceived by MBA Design. Many talented trades, including MBA Design fabricated the elaborate millwork. Our favorite Amish carpentry crews were responsible for perfecting the stunning results seen in the photos below.
When anyone says: "They don't build them like they used to...", show them this magnificent home.

New Build Interior - Contemporary with Asian Flare
"A Modern Family Home"
This modern classic tips its hat to Frank Lloyd Wright and his appreciation for Asian design with a nod toward simple, classic lines and respect for modern fusion. A dark cherry kitchen with stainless steel countertops and appliances flow into a high-top informal dining area. The client's office is streamlined with distinctive tiger maple and black walnut columns with inlaid walnut paneling. MBA Design customized a unique desk made to flow within the space. Tiger maple continues in the master bath with an Asian-inspired inlaid detail designed and manufactured by MBA.

Addition to Existing Home - American Traditional Style
"Respect for Family History"
A grand 7,000 square foot addition and landscape enhancement were respectfully added to a long-standing family homestead on an early settlement in Brecksville, Ohio. A three car garage, sun room, office, workshop, craft room, and bedrooms with private bathrooms, and a three-story elevator were seamlessly incorporated along with newly remodeled areas in the existing home. Our landscaping resolved drainage issues while beautifying the property.

New Build - Tudor Revival Style
"A Tudor Rose"
In 2002, a design professional homeowner entrusted MBA Design to collaborate with a builder and architect to create a new home with all the incredible detail of an old Tudor estate. The mission was to achieve the look of a home hundreds of years old with the impression of additions and upgrades over the years. MBA assisted in floor plans, elevations, and interior architecture. Exterior and interior millwork and cabinetry was produced in our woodwork shop in Peninsula, Ohio.
Salvaged antique wood beams and old wide plank floors were used throughout the project. Observe the Tudor rose-inspired staircase and other millwork detail. The wood shake roof was created in waves to look appropriately aged and custom wood carvings on the front gable complete the impression of an older structure.Fairplay Stone carved the Great Room stone fireplace.
